Q: Please send me information on your programme and details regarding exhibiting at The Nelson Mandela Metropolitan Art Museum.
A: Our exhibition programme is centred around the display of our Museum's permanent collection. The temporary exhibition programme is designed to complement our collection and concentrates on the promotion of artists of the Eastern Cape, national touring exhibitions, award shows and retrospectives. We do not hold commercial exhibitions or solo exhibitions. Membership of our Friends of the Art Museum would entitle you to receive our newsletter which would give you information about our exhibition programme.
Q: Where can I buy paintings by Nelson Mandela?
A: We don't know. We do not act as agents for any artists, not even our esteemed former President.
Q: Send me evrything you have about South African artists.
A: Please go to your nearest library and ask the librarian to help you to conduct research, then look up the information you need, read it and extract what you need for your project. Write it yourself without your mother's help. You may ask her to check your spelling and punctuation.
Q: Could you please tell me how much my paintings are worth?
A: We do offer advice on works of art, but no evaluations will be given.
Q: I am currently studying /doing my dissertation /completing my degree /thesis /masters on the subject of ........(usually museum or tourism related). Please could you fill in the following form /complete the questionnaire /provide me with information about your museum?
A: We do not have the staff /resources /time to do this kind of research. Some of the information you may require is also considered confidential. Please refer to our website for extensive information about our museum. We wish you all the best with your studies.
