Emma Taggart, Exhibition Curator, will be offering an insightful lunchtime walkabout of the exhibition Poking Fun at the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan Art Museum, 1 Park Drive
Exploring humour in art, the exhibition starts with 18th Century printmakers such as Hogarth, Goya and Daumier, the forefathers of modern satire. From darkly comical to lighthearted and whimsical, the exhibition promises to make one smile. Included are works by some of the best South Africa has to offer such as Norman Catherine, Fred Page, William Kentridge, Walter Battiss, Hylton Nel, Anton Kannemeyer and Nicholas Hlobo. The artworks are accompanied by informative text.
Emma will elaborate on how the exhibition was put together and will answer any questions.
Poking Fun will be on show until 18 October 2009.
