The Floral Landscape: Painting, Plants, Environment
South Africa’s flowering plants make a huge and important contribution to the country’s environment. They have been studied and depicted by botanical and fine artists from colonial days to the present. Marion Arnold will consider the landscape from an environmental perspective and interpret the contribution made by plant portraits to understanding the meanings inherent in flowering plants and the roles plants fulfil ecologically.
Marion Arnold, professional artist, art historian, writer and lecturer has written extensively on southern African art and artists and has lectured at top South African universities. She currently resides near King’s Lynn, Norfolk, England.
Entrance is free of charge. As a fund-raising gesture the "Friends of the Art Museum" will be serving coffee, tea and wine. Please RSVP to the Art Museum on 041 5861030.
