Back to event index

Date: 7 May 2007 to 18 June 2007

The Assistant Professor of Art at Willamette University in Salem, Oregon in the United States, Andries Fourie, will run art workshops for the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan Art Museum’s Art Cart Project during June 2007.  The Art Cart is an initiative of the NMM Art Museum to take art into the community through a series of art workshops for teachers and learners.  Arts and Culture teachers especially, will benefit greatly from the portrait drawing and sculpture workshops to be held at venues throughout the metro between 5 and 16 June 2007.

The workshops, which are free of charge, will include introductions to various techniques, interesting discussions, drawing exercises, various sculpture and portrait examples as well as the design and construction of small scale sculptures.  Participants will also receive a list of project ideas that can be made at home or in the classroom.

As the number of participants and workshops is limited, booking is essential.  Teachers who wish to make an appointment with the “Art Cart” are advised to please telephone the Art Museum on 041 5861030 as soon as possible.
